About

The latest data on India's growth, prices, jobs, money, markets, public finances and external sector, in one place, updated as the numbers come out.

The site gathers India's macroeconomic, financial and market indicators from official public sources (MoSPI, the Reserve Bank of India, FBIL and others) into one place and updates them as new numbers are released. It is written for economists, students and anyone who wants the numbers with their sources.

How it works

Automated pipelines ("data bots") download each release, check it against plausible ranges and the previously published values, and only then publish it. If a download fails, the site keeps the last good values and marks the series as stale. Every number on every page is drawn from a stored series; nothing is typed in by hand. Sources, coverage and licences are listed on the Data page, and the measures we construct ourselves are explained on the Methods page.

Written briefings are drafted automatically from these data. Release notes and the weekly briefing are reviewed by a person before publication; the short daily note is generated with automatic checks. Every number in all of them is checked against the stored series before anything goes out.

Corrections and feedback

If you spot a wrong number, a broken chart or a source we have misread, please write to bishmaykbarik@gmail.com. Corrections are made in the data or code, the page is rebuilt, and a note is added to any briefing that carried the error. Publishers' own revisions are not corrections: they are recorded in each series' revision history on its data page.
